The Hoshen 2020-2021

“The Hoshen” is a series of intricate pencil drawings of various gemstones inspired by the Cohen's (High Priest) traditional breastplate, adorned by him while serving at the Jewish Holy Temple. As an artist, I’m intrigued by the unity of Holiness and Prestige, and its depiction in matter and form. According to the Jewish tradition, each stone of the Hoshen represents a different part of the children of Israel.  

More so, this work of drawings attends to the issue of economic value held by the Holy Temple practices and traditions, as well as the issue of vibrancy , prominence and its integral use in the  practice of worshiping  God.
